Chinchero is located within the Sacred Valley of the Incas, at 3750 masl in the province of Urubamba.

It is a community of textile artists, who preserve ancestral techniques using natural pigments. The textil art is their main activity and its main source of income.

While exploring the archaeological complex you will appreciate the beauty of the Inca architecture, such as the palace of Túpac Inca Yupanqui (tenth ruler of the Inca Empire), on which the present colonial church of Chinchero was built.

The history of Cusco at the time of the Spanish conquest is reflected in Chinchero, since it was the place of the beginning of the rebellion of the curaca of Chinchero, "Tupac Amaru II".
