Itinerary Detail

  • Day : 1     CUSCO - HUAROCONDO - MISMINAY.

    This day in the morning we leave from Cusco in a private vehicle to the village of Zurite (3550m) to visit the experimental center, formed by Andenes, where agriculture and medicinal plants of the Andes are practiced. Then our vehicle will take us to the colonial town of Huarocondo where we begin our trek to the beautiful plateau of Maras. Our path takes us through a small valley and we will pass through the town of Chaquepay (3500 m) and then continue up to the Cácabral pass from where we enjoy beautiful views of the area, such as the great lake of Huaypo, the plateau of Chinchero and the town of the same name. Then continue to the agricultural towns of Santa Ana Mullakas and finally reach Mismosa, waiting for us waiting for us to welcome us.

    Along our way we will enjoy magnificent views of the Urubamba Mountain Range and the snow-capped mountains such as Verónica (5828m), Pumahuanca (5450m) and Chicón (5500m). This path is appropriate for photographs and remain engraved in our memory for a long time. Night in house inhabitant.

  • Day : 2     MISMINAY - MORAY - SALINERAS - PICHINGOTO - CUSCO

    This day after breakfast you will continue the walk to the archaeological site of Moray (3,550 masl), which was an old center for acclimatization, domestication and hybridization of wild species that were modified for human consumption. It consists of numerous terraces that generate microclimates, which is why some theories said that they used it as an agricultural laboratory. Then you will continue the journey to the salt mines of Maras (3,350 masl), where the inhabitants extract the salt following the ancestral system since pre-Inca times. You will continue the trek until you reach the Vilcanota river and the community of Pichingoto where you will enjoy lunch. Later you will have the transfer to your hotel in Cusco.

  • Rain gear (jacket and pants if available) or rain poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco).

  • Optional: walking sticks or poles (rubber covers required in order not to damage archaeological sites).
